Sorry I couldn't explain it better. I've based mine off of Andy Matuschak's Atomic Notes. This quote from him is the essence of it.

"It’s best to create notes which are only about one thing—but which, as much as possible, capture the entirety of that thing."

So it's less about word count and format for me and more about always sticking to that "one thing". Does that make more sense?
