SEXI is a framework academics use to make sure each paragraph thoroughly covers exactly one idea.
The goal of an atomic article is very similar. Cover one specific topic as clearly and concisely as possible.
With this in mind, I thought the SEXI framework would be a natural addition to my atomic writing toolkit.
What is the SEXI Framework?
SEXI is an acronym that stands for:
- Statement
- Explanation
- eXample
- Interpretation
You use the framework to craft a focused paragraph that effectively communicates its central point.
It was a breeze to adapt it from single paragraphs to full articles.
1. State Your Idea
Start with one clear statement. This is your topic sentence. Directly define your main idea and provide your reader with a mental model for the rest of the article.
